Arrest These Merry Gentlemen
A Musical for Kids about the Kingdom of God
Created by Cyndi Nine, Rob Howard, David Guthrie

  Speaking Roles:

  BROOKE
She is a young girl full of enthusiasm and energy who is never afraid to say what is on her mind.  Her bubbly personality is evident in all she does.  Major role.

THE CARPENTER
This kind man is more than just the simple carpenter he appears to be.  In fact, he is really a prince.
He shows great love, patience and humility to those around him.  Major role.

PRINCESS PRIDE
She is quite concerned with her appearance.   She has little care for anything but herself, as the story
progresses, she begins to see things a little differently.  Major role.

SIR BRAGS A LOT
He is always ready to impress others with tales of his daring feats.  He is rather conceited and seeks attention for himself, but he too slowly comes to see things another way.  Major role.

PAGE ONE
He is an eager new assistant to Sir Brags a Lot. He is in awe of his new master and follows him like a puppy.   He is quite friendly and easygoing.  Major role.  Can be a younger child.

LADY WINDABAG
She likes to talk and can sometimes be a complainer.  She is a friend of Princess Pride and shares her love for clothes and such.

MADAME LUXUREE
Like Princess Pride, she too loves material things.  In fact, so much so, that she is willing to part from her friends to go back to the “easy” life she enjoys.

SIR COURT LEE
He is a gentleman in every sense of the word.  He is jealous of Sir Brags a Lot and finds his stories to be…well, unbelievable.

SIR BURLYMAN
He is one tough guy and is a friend of Sir Court Lee.  They share the same skepticism of Sir Brags a Lot’s exploits.

FEE FEE
She is the tough keeper of the Toll Bridge.  She is the “bossy type.” One scene only.

COUNT ZE COINS
Just as his name implies, he is all about making money.  He is a friendly, but greedy man, with his own interests up front.  One scene only.

VACATION DAD
He is Brooke’s father, and quite caught with history and old castles.  He tends to forget this is a vacation, due to his interest in the tour he is taking, but he does love his family!  Few lines.

VACATION MOM
She is tender-hearted, and is trying to keep the peace in the family she loves dearly.  Few lines.

DANIEL
He is the younger brother who likes to use his imagination and pick on his older sister.  Should be a younger boy, full of energy.

When casting for parts in Happily Forever After, there are many ways you can add to or cut down on the cast depending on the size of your choir.  The following are options to customize this musical to match your choir.

  OPTIONS FOR SMALLER GROUPS:

  • Combine the part of Sir Burlyman and Sir Court Lee
  • The Carpenter could be played by an adult
  • Could use the same person to play Dad and Count Ze Coins
  • Tour Guide could play Madame Luxuree as well
  • Eliminate any non-speaking parts, they are fillers if needed
  • Knight could be played by an adult

  OPTIONS FOR LARGER GROUPS:

  • A third knight or lady could be added with a few lines.  They could leave with Madame Luxuree (e.g.: Sir Winsome and Lady Wannabee)
  • Extra serving maids could be added during the opening song, “Faraway Land” as well as ladies on a picnic, extra knights visiting with the ladies
  • Cheerleaders could be fans of Sir Brags a Lot
  • Have multiple trumpeteers instead of one
  • Maids and knights can travel with Princess Pride and her friends
  • Have treasure chest girls come out during song "Treasures in Heaven"
  • Add “human plants” on stage that could move around as the journey progresses
  • Fee Fee could have a cohort at the bridge
